JIS G4051 S55C steel carbon content (mass fraction, %) is not less than 0.4 and S55C has good wear resistance, but not good ductility, quenching distortion and cracking easily, so the quenching for S55C steel is extremely important. S55C steel must be rapid cooling after tempering to avoid the temper brittleness. JIS G4051 S55C cutting is difficult and should be spheroidized to improve cutting performance, tempering to 19 ~ 22 HRC hardness in principle, for the mechanical processing. Delivery status and hardness 149 ~ 192 HBS, HBS 183 ~ 255, 229 ~ 285 HBS.
