Offshore steel grade S420G1 is supplied under the specification EN10225:2001. The steel which is available in either quenched (Q) or thermo-mechanically rolled (M) condition, is used in the construction of fixed offshore structures including oil rigs and service platforms.
EN 10225 S420G1+M oil and offshore platform steel plate is mainly used in steel structures. This steel standard specification S420 includes four different steel grades S420G1+QT, S420G1+M, S420G2+QT and S420G2+M. They have owned different chemical composition and mechanical property. Oil and offshore platform steel plate S420G1+M owned the minimum yield strength at 420Mpa, and the tensile strength shall be above 500 Mpa. TMCP heat treatment is necessary for steel plate S420G1+M for any thickness when rolling.
