API 2YGr60 material is a quenched and tempered steel plate for marine structures. It is used for welded structural parts of marine structures. The steel plates in key parts must be resistant to impact, plastic fatigue load and laminar tearing.
API 2YGr60 steel smelting method
Steel should be smelted by open hearth furnace, basic oxygen converter or electric furnace.
API 2YGr60 steel plate delivery status: quenched and tempered
API 2YGr60 steel plate heat treatment
Quenching and tempering, cooling to below 538°C after rolling, and then heating to austenite structure between 815°C and 925°C, holding for enough time to make the material temperature uniform, quenching with a suitable liquid medium, and quenching at 565°C to 705°C Tempering in the temperature range of ℃. Due to the inherent characteristics of quenched and tempered steel, the API 2YGr60 quenched and tempered steel plate produced according to this standard cannot be formed or post-welded heat treated at a temperature higher than the tempering temperature used in production, otherwise its strength and toughness will suffer irreversible and significant loss. If thermoforming is required, the tensile and notch toughness properties of the final part should be tested, and the results should meet the requirements of this API 2Y standard.
