Strength for ASTM1020 is a little higher than 1015 steel, few quenching, no temper brittleness. ASTM1020 has cold deformation of high plasticity and 1020 is commonly used for bending, rolling, flanging and hammer processing. Arc welding and resistance welding welding performance is good,thickness is small when welding, strict shape or complex shape parts prone to crack. Cutting processability cold drawn or normalizing is better than annealing state for 1020 steel. ASTM1020 heat treatment specification and microstructure:
Heat treatment specification: normalizing, 910 ℃, air cooling. Metallographic organization: ferrite and pearlite.
