A387 Grade 12 steel is used in a variety of industries and is highly effective, particularly in the oil, gas and chemical industry, where liquids and gases are often stored at high temperature (see pressure vessels).
ASTM A387 Materials considered under this specification are available in grades 2, 12, 11, 22, 22L, 21, 21L, 5, 9 and 91. ASTM A387Gr.12 steel materials shall be killed and shall be thermally treated.

Annealing, normalizing plus tempering,or when the buyers agreed,Using blast or liquid quenching method accelerated cooling from the austenitizing temperature, followed by tempering.
